A Need for Healthcare Services in Tigray & Our Response
In February 2024, The Fewsi Foundation (Fewsi) initiated a two-fold support program to assist the Mekelle Ortho-Physiotherapy Center (MOPC) in meeting the physical and mental healthcare needs of the war-injured population of Tigray. The Tigray War (2020-2022) created an enormous number of civilian and military casualties and the destruction of many aspects of healthcare infrastructure. Many of the victims of these injuries are children and young adults. In the aftermath of this civil conflict, the Mekelle Ortho-Physiotherapy Center (MOPC) has been stretched to its capacity, but personnel and resources are still inadequate in proportion to the number of individuals who need care.
“The Fewsi Foundation has played a big role in increasing the quality of Service at MOPC.”Brhane Teame, Director of the Mekelle Ortho-Physiotherapy Center
