Founded in 2004 by pediatrician Dr. Mark Manary from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, Project Peanut Butter is a non-profit organization with decades of experience producing and distributing Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) using a nutrient-enriched peanut-butter-based formula. Their initial pilot project in Malawi reversed malnutrition in 95% of the children who received RUTF! In 2007, the United Nations, World Health Organization, and World Food Programme recognized RUTF in home-based therapy as the standard of care for curing severely malnourished children. Since their founding, Project Peanut Butter has launched projects to address and reverse malnutrition across the world, with active RUTF production facilities in Malawi, Sierra Leone, and Ghana, (and now in partnership with Fewsi, in Ethiopia).
