Lauren Froehlich, PT, DPT, Board member
Lauren first began working with Fewsi in 2024, serving as a volunteer coordinating Fewsi’s social media and digital communication efforts. During her time as a volunteer, she collaborated with Fewsi’s U.S. and Mekelle-based teams to create social media accounts detailing the work and impacts of Fewsi, updated the Fewsi website to provide easily accessible information on Fewsi’s ongoing public health projects in Tigray, created brochures and newsletters to keep current and future donors informed on the life-saving work their donations were supporting, and organized a digital fundraising campaign to support the launch of Fewsi’s Therapeutic Food Project combating child malnutrition.
Lauren’s passion for international service extends long past her work with Fewsi. Since 2017, she has served as a volunteer in Lebanon, Ethiopia, and Kenya working on projects in the social development and public health sectors. In Lebanon, she partnered with local NGOs, Arcenciel and Cirqenciel, to provide youth empowerment through performing arts classes to the children of Beruit and taught workshops at womens’ and children’s refugee camps across Lebanon. In Ethiopia, she worked as a visiting artist volunteering her time and skills to the non-profit day-camp program run by Fekat Circus in Addis Ababa. Last, but not least, in Kenya she served as a volunteer intern at the 2nd largest public hospital in the country, assisting physical therapists and doctors in the treatment of patients as well as helping with NGO, International Medical Aid’s, public health workshops and clinics in the local neighborhoods of Mombasa.
Lauren’s experiences volunteering on an international scale inform her work today serving as a Fewsi board member, as she strives to bring her knowledge and build a sense of shared humanity between Tigray and the world in her continued efforts to support Fewsi’s projects!
